"Latest News on Eagles' Injured Players: Goedert, Mailata, and Slay"

October 16, 2024
Philthy In Philly
Oh boy, Philly fans, it looks like our Eagles are facing some injury woes after their Week 6 win over the Cleveland Browns. Three of our starters, Dallas Goedert, Jordan Mailata, and Darius Slay, had to leave the game early due to various injuries. But don't worry, we've got the latest scoop on their conditions. First up, Goedert. Our tight end only played a measly three snaps before he had to hit the sidelines with a hamstring injury. According to the Inquirer's Jeff McLane, he could be out for a few weeks. Not ideal, but at least he might avoid the dreaded injured reserve list. Let's cross our fingers and hope for a speedy recovery. But let's be real, Goedert's been no stranger to injuries. He hasn't played a full season since his rookie year in 2018 (before the NFL decided to add an extra game). Sigh. We'll just have to make do without him for now. So who's left to hold down the fort at tight end? Well, we've got Grant Calcaterra and Jack Stoll. Calcaterra has shown some promise as a receiver, but he's not the strongest blocker. And Stoll may not be the flashiest receiver, but he can throw some blocks. We've also got E.J. Jenkins and C.J. Uzomah on the practice squad, but they may not be ready to make the leap just yet. And don't forget about Albert Okwuegbunam, who could make his return from the injured reserve list soon. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, the team hasn't activated his practice window yet. Next up, Mailata. Our left tackle was spotted on crutches after the game. Yikes. He told SportsRadio 94WIP's Afternoon Show that he's dealing with a hamstring injury and will miss a couple of games. But I don't know about you guys, but he looks pretty rough in that video. I'm no doctor, but I have a feeling he might be out for more than just two games. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery, big guy. So who's stepping up in his place? Well, there are a couple of options. We could start Fred Johnson at left tackle, or we could move Mekhi Becton to left tackle and start Tyler Steen at right guard. Personally, I think Johnson is better suited as a replacement in-game rather than a starter. But hey, I'm no coach. If we do go with the latter option, our starting five would be Becton, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Steen, and Lane Johnson. Not too shabby, if you ask me. But let's just hope Mailata's absence doesn't throw off our offensive line too much. Last but not least, Slay. Our cornerback suffered a knee injury against the Browns, but don't panic just yet. McLane reports that he's trending towards being ready for our next game. Phew. But if he does get hurt again, it's worth noting that Isaiah Rodgers, not Kelee Ringo, was the first one off the bench to replace him. Just something to keep in mind. Well, that's all the latest injury news for our Eagles, folks. Let's hope for a speedy recovery for our boys and keep our fingers crossed for a healthy team moving forward. Go Birds!
